Itereleng: Institute of Cultural Affairs (South Africa) was founded in 2001 in response to the devastating impact of HIV and AIDS on young South Africans and the lack of preventative health education interventions in urban communities. Young people are in a uniquely influential position to take action against issues that concern them. We believe that their long term involvement is required to bring about improved livelihoods for young people and their communities, and to place young people at the forefront of change and development in South Africa.
Our mission is to build capacity to enable the empowerment of individuals and organizations that promote facilitative leadership through the use of technologies of participation. Our programmes promote positive behavior change, improve livelihood opportunities and involve young people in community and government development and policy making.
