Programs

Women’s Economic Empowerment

ICA Zimbabwe provides micro-loans to community-based women’s clubs. These loans enable women to not only earn income for their families, but also participate in their country’s economy.

Business Skills Training

Business skills training programs, including a specialized training program in candle making, were undertaken in 2006, in order to equip community members with skills for setting up businesses and other income generating projects. Additional business skills training programs in permaculture, medicinal herbs, and batik have been carried out recently.

HIV/AIDS Prevention and Awareness

ICA Zimbabwe’s HIV/AIDS Care Program focused during 2006 on equipping community volunteers with basic home-based care skills. ICA Zimbabwe trained 96 caregivers and distributed 275 home-based care kits to rural communities. The Mufakose Queens football club, goodwill ambassadors for ICA Zimbabwe’s HIV/AIDS work, received a donation of uniforms from ICA Canada and proceeded to achieve national success – thereby bringing new national attention to ICA Zimbabwe’s HIV/AIDS prevention and care efforts
