ICA Nepal inaugurates home for people with disabilities

The month of November marked the 100th day of ongoing Madhes agitation in Nepal which is still on. The life in the country is crippled due to the blockade at Indo-Nepal border points. Various efforts are on to solve the crisis plaguing the country.

nepal-013For ICA Nepal, we closed a chapter in reconstruction phase as the house constructed for the people living with disabilities at DSC was inaugurated amidst a huge crowd by the Hon. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Mr. Chandra Prakash Mainali.

On 23rd November a small program was organized where more than a hundred people from different sectors including ministers and leaders of different political parties had observed the programme. A three hour long programme started with the welcome speech from Mr. Sharada Prasad Dhital followed by many other speeches including the one from chief guest, various dance and musical performances and ended on a thank you note by Mr. Chandra K.C, the chairperson of DSC. The program was followed by certificate distribution and high tea.

A letter of appreciation was awarded to the major financial supporters: ICA Australia, ‘Together with the World’, a Korean organization and all others who helped the dream come true. The inauguration programme was organized at the joint efforts from ICA Nepal, the local community and Mr. Chhultim Sherpa.

ICA Nepal has recently acquired membership of Global Giving community and is now participating in open challenge which started from December 1st and will run up to 31st the same month. We have also dropped proposal for opening a café for little people by proposing to open a café for them and have been collecting amounts through open challenge.
