ICA Nepal conducts community training

In the month of July, ICA Nepal conducted series of trainings and activities targeting community people. This month, we welcomed Mr Yoshimasa Tebayashi, psychological expert and Mr. Okoshi Tosio, structure engineer from Japan. The whole month was very productive and fulfilling the ICA Nepal’s plans at its best.

The month started with On July 1st Friday, an awareness raising program on Child, Teenage and Women rights was conducted at the Learning Centre itself which is now completely renovated. The participants were mainly Adolescents and women. The awareness program focused on various issues ranging from education to health to security and environment. The awareness also largely covered the physical and mental changes in adolescents and the behavioral aspects.

ICA Nepal conducted four series of training on psycho-social counseling at Changunarayan on 6th and 7th July, 17th and 18th July, 25th and 26th July and 30th and 31st July, 2016. The training conducted on 6th-7th July targeted male members of community while rest of others included male and female. The training was facilitated by Mr Atma Ram Timsina and Mr. Amba Datta Bhatta.

In the meantime, Mr. Atma Ram Timsina from ICA Nepal recently conducted an interaction program among the 22 individual from 22 different ethnic groups of the country residing in Madhragach in four wards ( ward no 6, 7 ,8, and 9) in Saranamati VDC of Jhapa District. The VDC alone houses 25 -30 different indigenous groups of the country and through the interaction program Mr. Timsina explored the possibilities of developing the capacity of the individuals and the community. ICA as one of the leading organizations dedicated towards human development and capacity enhancement looks forward to working for the better lives of these people. For the same, ICA Nepal has planned to launch Social Artistry Initiatives in the very community for the diverse indigenous groups residing there.

Under Teach program Rotary club of Rudramati with support from ICA Nepal, organized plantation program Kopila Batika inside the compound of Prithivi Narayan School in Goldhunga. There was active participation of the student and faculty as well. The program was aimed at promoting and spreading awareness regarding the important of afforestation.

ICA Nepal conducted a training of Trainers (ToT) on coping with disaster in Nepal from 19th to 22th July 2016. Mr.Yoshi Tebayashi , psychologist (mental expert) From Japan is facilitated the four days long training. The TOT was conducted for the staff of the Changunarayan reconstruction project, where ICA Nepal is an implementing partner. The ToT was aimed at empowering the staff to deal with the psycho social problems in the aftermath of the disaster. As ICA Nepal has been carrying out many sessions of Psycho- social support training for the community people at Changunarayan,

ICA Nepal also welcomed Mr. Okoshi Tosio on July 27th. He last visited Nepal in April to oversee the renovation activities at Changunarayan as a supervising engineer.

Training coordinator Mr. TP Kadel and Mr. Amba Datta Bhatta followed up on the herb plantation training provided to locals of Thuloparsel. On the same visit they also imparted online marketing training for a group of the community people to enable and introduce them to the modern ways of marketing. The visit did not just conclude there. The team of two also facilitated the formation of Rotary Community Corps (RCC) for the capacity development and overall community development purpose.

At the end of the month, a workshop on Coping with Disasters for Children of Changunarayan was held among the children which was facilitated by Ms. Sangita Sharma, Ms. Rachana Sharma and Mr Amba Datta Bhatta. The main aim was to reduce stress of children who suffered after earthquake in Nepal. The workshop was Facilitated by ICA Nepal and Supported by ICA Japan.
