The ICA Europe MENA Gathering was hosted by ICA:UK in Warrington, Cheshire from the 28th November- 1st December. The meeting was attended in person by 18 people from ICA Netherlands, Focus Homini Poland, Rules Play Russia, ICA Spain, ICA:UK and ICA USA and virtually by participants from ICA Ukraine.
During the 2.5 days together we made and deepened connections, explored what is happening in Europe, shared our activities and ambitions, learnt more of how ToP facilitation is being applied in different contexts (virtual facilitation, stories of change and in difficult conversations) and left with some concrete ideas for actions which are already now being taken forward. We also agreed that the next gathering will be in Warsaw in late November 2017.
Examples of collective actions include:
- Gathering and comparing different business models used by ICAs globally, particularly on how to manage the potential tension between for-profit training work and social change
- Development of a partnership application for EU funding from various ICAs collaborating with other non-ICAs, designed as a drive towards social change, but incorporating opportunities to carry out some curriculum development, especially around the training of ToP trainers
- Collaboration between the mentors and supporters (ICA:UK, ICA Ukraine and ICA Netherlands) of the new ICAI Associate Member Focus Homini Poland to help them set out their organisational development journey and their progression from being an Associate to becoming ready for statutory membership
